Editor's Verdict:
Taboo Personals uses the same database as many of its sister sites, all of which are clones of one another. These sites include AdultCrowd.com, AdultMatchHeat..com, and TransgenderPersonals.com. As such, the database in use by TabooPersonals.com is not dedicated to those members who are looking for alternative fetish sex per se, but instead is just for your average sex-hungry men and women (mostly men). If it's just your typical adult dating site you're looking for then we recommend you check out our adult dating site reviews. But we added Taboo Personals to this fetish dating category instead because of the word "Taboo" in the name, implying that this site is dedicated to the niche market of fetish dating. Seem logical? We hope so. Anyway, read on..
Taboo Personals differs from most other fetish and adult dating sites in that you can't browse any member profiles or perform any searches until you're at least signed up as a free member. This can be good or bad depending on your view point. The fact that you can't see who's online before signing up means you can't assess how many active members matching your search criteria are online in your local area before joining and handing over your e-mail address. There again, once you're signed up, it means that only other members will be able to find your profile - casual visitors who are not signed-up won't be able to find you. So from a privacy point of view, this seems to be a good thing.
As a member of Taboo Personals, you are fully in control of your personal information, and can choose which member is allowed to see your photo, listen to your audio, view your video, and read your SoulMatch test results and sexuality description. You can make some of the content in your profile 'private,' by choosing the 'Private' item in drop-down box when uploading photo, video or audio files or in your 'Personals Settings' section (for test results). This means that these parts of your profile will be seen only by those members who are marked as "allowed to view private content" in your Hotlist. So again, from a privacy point of view, this is all good stuff.
Once signed up as a free member, you can view profiles and (small-sized) pictures of other members. In order to view full-sized pictures and access all the advanced features you will want to purchase one of the premium memberships on offer, but is it really worth it?
When we signed up to TabooPersonals.com, we didn't upload a photo and didn't fill out any parts of our profile. A few months later we signed in and found that we had 4 new emails from some rather gorgeous women, and 16 women had added our profile to their Hotlist! Not bad going, considering we hadn't filled out any of our profile or added any photos! In fact, it's a bit too good to be true! After all, who would hotlist a blank profile, yet alone send that member an e-mail. Since you have to upgrade to read your e-mail, we weren't sure whether this was a scam by the site or whether these women really existed and were just independent scammers, but the thought that they are legitimate members and would take enough of an interest in a blank profile to email the owner seems a little incredulous. Still, it takes all sorts so who knows! Whatever the nature of these e-mails, it doesn't mean that genuine members, both male and female, don't use the site with great success. Just use your own common sense in determining who's legitimate and who isn't - if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is!
